Marie Egeland, LCSW, RMT-BC
Director, Intermission Therapies

A licensed psychotherapist with twenty-five years of experience, Marie never stops loving her work. She is constantly impressed by the courage of the people with whom she works. She is consistently humbled to be in partnership with her clients.

In addition to years of work as a psychotherapist, Marie weaves her degree in Music Therapy throughout her work. She has a strong tendency to think creatively and she is always focused on solutions. Marie never lacks for ideas and enthusiasm.

For a quarter of a century Marie has specialized in the treatment of depression and anxiety. She works extensively with couples to strengthen marriages and craft a future that both partners can live with. Her experience over decades gives her unique insight into life transition issues for both women and men. What feels like a crisis is usually a manageable transition.

Marie's personal faith is her root system and her family her lifeblood. This is the aspect that she shares with each of her colleagues, and that makes us a powerful team. We understand the power of love, and we put it into practice every single day.

Lindsey De Los Santos, LCPC

Lindsey is a Licensed Counselor who has earned her Master’s degree in counseling with art therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She uses creative approaches from her training in order to help people to develop practical solutions to life’s problems. She has been working for 8 years and began her career by counseling troubled adolescents with behavioral issues in the juvenile justice system. Lindsey continues to enjoy working with adolescents struggling with low self esteem, behavioral and social issues as well as helping them to communicate better with their parents. She also specializes in helping adults cope with the anxiety and depression that may develop from life’s stressors to the more severe symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. However, her primary area of interest is working with couples by helping them to understand one another’s point of view and communicate better. She considers it a privilege to be able to support people during the difficult time in their lives while being able to encourage them about the hope ahead. On a personal note, Lindsey has been married for 15 years and has two children, one of whom is a teenager.

Gwen Hawley, LCSW

Intermissions Therapies is delighted to have Gwen Hawley on staff! In addition to her excellent work with adolescents and families, she has a real heart for couples work. Gwen has ultimate respect for her clients, stating, "It takes a strong person to reach out for help. Courageous people are those who are willing to take a risk to improve their lives during challenging times."

Gwen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 12 years of experience. Her clinical experience in a hospital environment helped her to gain knowledge as to a myriad of therapeutic interventions. Her specialties include, loss & grief, relationship difficulties, recovery from depression, self-esteem, and particular understanding of those who are emotionally gifted. These individuals experience the world in a unique way due to their sensitivity.

Gwen's personal passion for the last 20 years has given her knowledge in the Health and Wellness and Personal Fitness fields, which she integrates into her therapeutic approach if desired by the client. Gwen empowers clients through personal growth and development and restores balance by integrating spirit, mind and body. Always respectful, Gwen inspires hope and believes the best about her clients.

Priscilla Brinkman MSW, LCSW, FT

Priscilla Brinkman specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults who are struggling with the issues of loss, grief and chronic or life threatening illness. She is skilled at helping people when they feel isolated or alone. The work a client does with Priscilla’s guidance is individualized, allowing them to express their unique way of dealing with loss. Priscilla recognizes loss as a part of everyday life that may occur at the death of a loved one, diagnosis of a major illness, divorce or other life transitions. Even celebrated family events such as a child leaving for kindergarten or college create many life changes. Priscilla brings compassion and insight as she helps families cope with change.

She has over 25 years experience which includes clinical work with children and families, schools collaboration and workshops. For the last 10 years she has worked with individuals of all ages on grief, loss, end of life issues and traumatic bereavement. She is certified as a Fellow in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education and Counseling. Priscilla is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received a Master in Early Childhood Education from the University of Chicago and a Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa.

Priscilla strives to meet the unique needs of each client and incorporates interpersonal therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, narrative therapy, and psycho-education in her work. She believes a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship is a major component in creating an environment where change can occur. “I believe everyone has a story to tell. It is in the understanding of the story one can find solutions to problems, acceptance of the past and hope for the future.”


Gail Castle, MS, LPC

Trained in the Rogerian methods, Gail is a client-centered clinician. She holds a firm belief that each person has the courage to find strength and peace within themselves as they move through life transitions. In addition, Gail is certified to run workshops for women emphasizing personal and spiritual growth. As a therapist, she brings a complete circle of wholeness to her clients, involving aspects of physical wellness, ecopsychology and spirituality.

While working alongside her clients, Gail serves as an encourager and supporter. Her clients report that they found hope and belief at a time in their lives when they were unable to do that for themselves. Problem solving, use of empathy and personal empowerment are all components of a therapy session with Gail.

Specialties or areas of interest for Gail are those involving life transitions, grief and loss and relationship issues. She has a special passion for helping children and parents rediscover new ways to interact and work together as a family following divorce.

A Licensed Professional Counselor, Gail received her undergraduate degree at National Louis University in Wheaton, Illinois and her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

Anthony Madonia, LCSW

"Helping relationships are an essential part of life. I have been privileged to work with many adults, adolescents, and children to help them work through emotional, behavioral, and spiritual struggles. My passion is to assist clients to increase their ability to cope and gain a sense of peace. My core belief is that God gives each of us gifts and talents for the purpose of sharing them with one another. It brings me joy to connect with individuals and build these helping relationships.

My approach is completely client-centered and views therapy as a collaboration. Upon entering Intermission Therapies you will experience a safe and tranquil environment that will put you at ease. My therapeutic approaches include cognitive therapy and client-centered psychotherapy."

Nancy Andrews, LCPC, ATR-BC, CCJTS, CADC, EMDR

Nancy is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a Registered Art Therapist-Board Certified (ATR-BC), and a Clinically Certified Juvenile Treatment Specialist (CCJTS). Nancy received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling/ Art Therapy, and her Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago Illinois.

Experience in counseling have included extensive work in the areas of Trauma, Substance Abuse, Anxiety and Depression, Adolescent Behavioral Issues, Relationship Issues, Adoption Issues, and Life Transition Issues. Nancy utilizes traditional therapeutic treatment, incorporating creative components of art, journaling and experiences in nature to reconnect with the joy of living.

Nancy is an accomplished watercolor/mixed media artist, receiving a variety of awards for her paintings and collage works. She has done numerous commissioned portraits as well as extensive mural painting with juveniles in correction. Nancy has taught Illustrated Journal classes with adults and in the High School setting, emphasizing the joy in creatively recording the rich "ordinary" moments of our lives.

Encouragement toward each other and faith in the abundance and love of God summarizes Nancy's beliefs and values for her own life and the lives of those to whom she comes in contact. She believes that God can truly bring good out of every situation in life despite the difficulties, and she will help you look for how this miracle can unfold in your life as it has in hers.

Marianne Kelly, MSW, LCSW

Marianne Kelly enjoys working with individuals of all ages. She conveys a genuine, compassionate and nuturing environment. In addition, she recognizes that her personal as well as educational experiences contribute to her successful work with clients.

Marianne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She completed her undergraduate work at University of Cincinnati and her graduate work at Loyola University. Her early clinical experience includes working in an alcohol and drug recovery center, a day treatment program for the chronically mentally ill, and a family community counseling center. In addition, she spent four years at Maryville Academy working with adolescents in a residential treatment facility. In the last six years she has been working in a private practice setting. While in a private practice setting she has expanded her education, becoming certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy which is used for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias as well as other life issues.

Marianne also continues to expand her knowledge and application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which studies have shown to be one of the most effective therapies that offers quicker resolution. Marianne's therapeutic approaches include family systems, brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), psycho educational, mindfulness/relaxation/visualization exercises, and insight oriented. Her specialties include post traumatic stress disorder, phobias, panic attacks, generalized anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, and crisis interventions.

Gwyn Zmolek, MS, LPC, NCC, EDS

Gwyn realizes that for some clients, the decision to enter therapy is made during a stressful time. However, she believes that these times can be useful in serving as a catalyst for change that leads to a happier, healthier life.

As a Licensed Psychotherapist, Gwyn offers individual therapy to clients struggling with a variety of personal issues. She specializes in the treatment of Eating Disorders and considers herself a strong advocate for this growing dilemma. She provides treatment to children, adolescents, and adults, both male and female.

She is devoted to providing comprehensive care for each individual and will work with psychiatrists, medical doctors, and nutritionists as needed.

Tiffany Davis, MS,RD,LDN, Registered Dietitian

Tiffany is a licensed and registered dietitian and has earned her Master of Science degree in Nutrition at Northern Illinois University. She has completed a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Eating Disorders and Obesity. As a dietitian, she believes that nutrition therapy is not only about food quality and quantity but also more importantly, it is about one’s relationship with food.

Joel Zedrow, MSW

Joel Zedrow is passionate about working with youth and their families to seek answers when they seem difficult to find. He is a dedicated social worker with five years of experience in community and school settings. Joel always respects his clients’ challenges with a relaxed, unassuming approach. He believes that the willingness and motivation of people to seek assistance during difficult times are evidence in themself that they can recover.

Joel has served as a helping professional with a philosophy based on empathy. Regardless of age, culture, or background, he believes strongly in a human being’s ability to consider and envision another’s perspective. Joel recognizes this skill as the key element to overcome life obstacles and conflicts. He is honored to work with each client he meets.

Joel specializes in testing and treating behaviors of children and adolescents. He has experience in working with children and families living with ADHD, learning disabilities, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, social and mood disorders.
